No, it uses speed density the 2.8 v6 camaro uses a MAF sensor.
The MAF is located on the air intake manifold in between the block and the air filter (housing).
In 1989 these cars still used the MAF computer system so this limits you to 1985-1989, but the bolt pattern of the heads were changed in 1987, so you need a '87-'89 system.
have you checked the fuel pump, fuel filter, when was last time MAF was replaced. Also there is a TPS that needs to be reset on the throttle cable if you have a TPI. But more than likely its the fuel pump

Map sensors were not used on 88 camaros. Only maf sensors

On both the V6 and V8, the sensor is located in the plastic intake tube just infront of the MAF sensor. The intake sensor has a 2 wire connector.
It does not have a MAF.
