No it will not work in a 1997 Chevy 1500. First the case doesn't have the bosses for the neutral safety switch which is on the drivers side of the case. Second the solenoids inside the transmission are different for 1997 and 1993. Third the wiring harness inside the transmission is different for 1993 and 1997.
No, the sensor plugs are all different. The 1993 has a vehicle speed sensor and the 1997 doesn't.
the bell housing is DIFFERENT on the 97 trans. You must put a 1993 to 1995 or 1998 are 1999 4L60E transmission back in it. The 1996 and 1997 will not work in the 98.
Your blower switch sensor is out. Replace it!Then all the speeds will work
1997 escort tranny's are a breed of their own you must replace it with a 1997 transmission.

1993 was the first year the automatics used the electronic 4L60E transmission. Any 1993 - up Blazer/Bravada/Jimmy/S10/S15 automatic transmission should do.
