I'm kinda new with the Geo, but I understand that the long block engine is the same in all of them. What is different are all the accessories, IE fuel system, ignition system, etc, etc. I would strip everything off the bad motor and carefully put them on the new motor. The only thing I don't know about is the position sensor for the crank. I'd probably put the front pullyN (which has the position sensor in it) onto the new motor. Good luck! leehduncan@Verizon.net
97 uses obd2 94 uses obd1 wiring harness would not just plug and play. alternator
water pump belt is wider on the 97 if i remember right some of the crank pulleys have
five bolts and some have four? could be wrong on that one though.basically the engine is the same but almost everything else is different.
Sure will. Any Metro motor from 1989-1997 will fit in it assuming that they are of equal size (ie) 3 cylinder 1.0L to 3 cylinder 1.0L. You can put a bigger engine like a 1.3L from a Swift in it but it requires a bit of tweaking.
Yes you can. All Geo Metro engines are compatible from 1989 - 1997. Just make sure that they both have the same transmission or you'll have to do a lengthy and expensive conversion.
I HAVE HAD A GEO METRO IN 1 FORM OR ANOTHER SINCE 1987. TO ANSWER THE QUESTION ON ENGINE COMPATIBILITY ANY METRO 3CYL ENGINE FROM 1989 -1997 WILL WORK. I PREFER 1993.5 UP DUE TO A MORE DURABLE TIMEING BELT
About 39-44 MPG
1.3 litre check the coil first if that's not it it is more than likely the dist.
Can you replace your 2000 Camry CE 4-cylinder engine with a 1997 Camry engine?"
The 1997 Geo 1.0 leader engine cylinder head bolt specification is 120 pounds. The camshaft bolt torque specification is 90 pounds.
i dont think so.
no
No , the 2.3 liter 4 cylinder engine in a 1997 Ford Ranger is not an interference engine
cylinder #1 is the first cylinder on the front of the engine
its the 2nd cylinder back on the rider side of the engine
