Replacing Mustang EnginesYes. The 4.6 was available in Mustangs in the 1996 model year. It's not as simple as removine and replacing though. Those days are gone with the carburetor. You'll need the computer (behind the passenger side kick panel) most if not all the under hood engine wiring. There are two separate wiring harnesses under the hood, one for the Engine Management System, one for the electrical assesories (lights etc). Be careful when splicing. I have a 1987 Mustang in my garage that I'm going through one wire at a time (started 3 months ago) to figure out where I went wrong!
