Will surge protecters in the home protect against an emp device activation?

highly doubtful. the "rays" of radiation would still come in contact with the electrical components. It's not so much a circuit that gets fried in an EMP but the components of the circuit. a Nuc. going off about 200 miles from the surface of the earth could wipe out America, that is equal to about 100,000 volts per square cm of ground. that is needless to say enough to fry any wiring you might have, even if connected to a surge protector.I suggest building a "faraday cage" around the device you want to protect.get copper mesh (if you can) or a cheap space blanket. get a box to which you can set the item into (I prefer ones with lids). cover the entire think in the blanket (cut to fit, just make sure it's sealed) attach it (using tape, not staples) then tape a insulated wire to one end, and run the other end to a grounding pole in the earth. this should work. the FEMA building uses the same concept, it has mounds of dirt over the entire building, underneath the dirt is the copper mesh, which grounds to the earth.

Is there any technology that could disable all electronics in a house or small building?

Well, if its plugged into an outlet, turning off the main service box switch will disable it.If you want to DESTROY all the electronics there an EMP machine will do it. But these machines are very expensive and require very large amounts of electric power themselves. They are also not selective or directional and will destroy all electronics around them to the limit of their range in every direction.

Is it true that Rubber-soled shoes and rubber tires provide protection from lightning?

No. If the outside of the rubber is wet, the extremely high voltage electricity can be conducted around the rubber. Also, most consumer grade rubber boots or shoes do not provide enough insulation for even low household voltage protection, such as a flooded basement. Only certified and rated boots will offer any protection in such conditions. The metal body of the vehicle will protect you in case of a lightning strike. This phenomenon is called a faraday cage. The electricity will flow on the outside of a metal box, object or container.

Installing a 120volt appliance what breaker is needed at the electric box?

Need to know what the wattage or the amperage is of the appliance. The load amperage is what governs the wire size and the breaker to protect the circuit.

How does Faraday's cage work?

Basically a "Faraday cage" is a grounded, metal box. By being grounded radio waves can neither enter nor leave. And because the wavelength of radio waves are relatively long, you can make the cage from metal mesh instead of a solid.

Would a radio work inside a metal box?

No. The metal box would create a Faraday Effect. One side of the box has a positive charge from the radio signal. The other side has a negative. When the cancel, you're radio receives nothing.

How do you shut down the emp in killzone 3?

In that bottom Tactical Spawn Point on the Turbine map (the one in the tunnel at the back of the map under the mountain side), there is a little control panel in the room where the spawn is. If you're facing that ammo box at the bottom of the stairs in that room, turn around and you'll see a button on a pedestal. When you hear the alarm going off, you can press that button and it shuts off the EMP. See the related link.
