The oil pressure sensor on a 1988 Chevy 1500 5.7 is located on the engine. It is on the right side, near the intake manifold.

The timing setting for a 1988 Toyota Tercel is the "3E" hole lines at the top. This setting is for a Tercel EZ 1500 engine.
I have my own 1988 Gmc Sierra 1500, and I had the same exact problem. What worked for me was wrestling the fuel filter off and replacing it and then putting techron into the gas tank for two fill-ups. That helped ALOT but I also replaced my distributor cap, rotor, and ignition wires and it solved the problem for good. Hope this helps!

If the cubic inch is the same the motors should swap out ok. You will have to change some parts but most Chevy motors will swap.
