my husband is trying to replace the master cylinder on a 1994 grand am. he was wondering on how to align the gears for the abs.

The brake master cylinder has nothing to do with the way the car runs. It certainly wouldn't cause it to stall.....Maybe the brake booster?
I would imagine 6 if its a 6 cylinder.
