ABSOLUTLEY! Smoke is a major toxin- not just to you but to anything it comes into contact with. If the item can't be washed the best thing is the put it somewhere with a container of baking soda and let it sit for weeks.(removed form the smokers home) You may need to change out the baking soda after a while to continue the absorption.
We have order several items form people which turned out to be so smoke infested we could smell it when we picked up the box at the post office and even the clerks there remarked about the odor. In most instances we managed to eliminate the odor by the long process of baking soda. At times the process has been to layer baking soda in a container, papar towel, item, paper towel, baking soda. Occationally vinegar if the item can stand it.
