I'll try to answer this clearly. First of all if the timing belt breaks it can hurt the engine. A value can be open when it should closed and it can be hit by the piston. The serpentine belt breaking and wrapping around the crank shaft is HIGHLY unlikely to cause the timing belt to break. The crank shaft supplies the pull and push to the timing belt not the cam shaft. You would have to cause the crank to stop immediately to have any chance of it breaking the timing belt. The serpentine belt is not strong enough, even when wedged behind the pulley, to stop the crank that quickly.
yes you have brakes on your Saturn. no the planet Saturn does not offer breaks of any kind not even lunch or coffee breaks
There is no Fan belt. There is a serpentine belt however. If this breaks do NOT run the car. This belt turns the water pump keeping your engine cool. You will have major issues if the engine overheats.
when serpentine belt breaks alternator and water pump stop working along with power steering pump
Yes, you can expect a car that has a serpentine belt to lose power steering when the belt breaks because the belt goes around the power steering pump's pulley.
before it breaks and you get stranded
yup!
Just before it breaks
Its an auto lock, if you go more than 4 inches the crankshaft breaks
yes if breaks away from the crankshaft
The serpentine belt is the belt you see that rotates around your alternator and power steering pump and a/c etc. If this belt breaks you will just lose the accessories it runs The timing belt is under a cover at the front of your engine. It is connected to pulleys on the crankshaft and the camshaft and as it rotates it keeps the valves opening and closing at the right time. If this belt breaks, and if the engine you have is called an "interference" engine, the valves will come down and hit the pistons at the wrong time possibly punching holes in the top of the pistons and bending valve stems. serp belt runs alt power sreer and ac timing belt is internal and runs cam in time with crankshaft ( lets car run)
No. Only the cam belt effects timing.
you fix it
