I would say you need to measure the one your taking off and compare it to the one you want to put on... the only other thing that i would check would be U-Joints.. im not sure but the 2500 may have bigger or more heavy-duty u-joints then the 1500... if the length and u-joints are the same then i would say it should do just fine!

I believe the speaker size is 4 x 6. When you go to sites like crutchfield.com, they usually will show the size of speakers that fit your vehicle. For my 2001 Silverado 1500 extended cab, the 4 x 6 was the size they said would fit my truck.
The S10 was available with the NV3500 manual or the 4L60E automatic... those are compatible with the Silverado 1500 trucks (except for the 454SS).

The transmission should be priced from $2000 - $2500 for the transmission. Labor to install transmission should be some where around 6 hours this price may vary depending on where you go for any estimate, that's why you ask how many hours they are charging you for.
