I am going to say probably not. The reasons are involved than just whether it is rear wheel drive or not. I am sure the bellhousing patterns are different, it would have to be a V6 and I am not aware of any rear wheel drive wagon that had either a 3.0 or a 4.0 which is what the Aerostar came with. The only rear wheel drive wagon that had a V6 I can think of was the old LTDII wagon which had a 3.8 liter. The other issue is the biggest. The 98 Aerostar had an electronic controlled tranny. Any wagon with a V6 would have been built long before an electronic tranny was used. You stand a better chance of using a Ranger transmission, than a wagon or sedan.
