Your question is missing one key element: a queen what?

If you are trying to place a queen mattress on a twin-sized box spring, the answer is a definite no.

If you'd like to use a queen sized headboard with a twin box spring, the answer is "probably", with some modifications. Depending upon the construction of the headboard, and whether or not it can rely upon a nearby wall for support, you can use a headboard you love with an existing bed, even if the sizes aren't exactly the same. You can remove non-decorative legs from the headboard and hang it on the wall at the head of the bed, like a piece of art. You can attach the headboard as intended to the bed frame and disguise the exposed legs with an extension of the bed skirt, or paint them to match the wall. You can use the headboard along the long side of the twin bed, as the back to a daybed arrangement.

If, however, you are considering using a twin-sized box spring on a queen-sized bed frame, you will have to discover whether or not the frame is made to be adjustable, and, if not, you'll need to install some sort of supportive decking material into the frame, for the box spring to set upon. This arrangement will leave dangerous exposed corners sticking out beyond the mattress, which have to be dealt with, perhaps with a padded cover all around the frame. My advice would be to skip all this retrofit effort, and purchase a new bed frame to fit your box spring. They are generally less than $100.

Will 2 twin size bed box springs replace a queen size bed box spring?

They will not. A queen size bed is 60" x 80" and a twin size is 39" x 75" and an XL twin would be 39" x 80". Two XL twin box springs are what you would use for a king size bed.

Split queen mattress?

A split queen mattress is not as common as a split king sized mattress. A box spring for a queen bed can be purchased when the area for the bed is unreachable by the queen box spring in its original size.

Can you use a twin box spring for a queen mattress?

Technically yes, in the same sense that you can use a 4" plate for an 8" steak. A twin box spring is considerably smaller (slightly shorter and much narrower) than a queen mattress. The mattress will stick out nearly a foot on each side of the box spring, and a few inches at either the top or bottom (or both).

What is a queen split?

A split queen is a term used to describe a type of queen size box spring. A traditional queen is a one piece box spring. A split queen is actually two small box springs that when put together side by side form a queen size box spring. It is essentially a queen size box spring in two pieces, split down the middle (right side and left side), hence the term queen split. One is not any better then the other. The only reason for a split queen is that it is easier to move. Because box springs are stiff, a queen size may be impossible to maneuver around corners, hallways or doorways in smaller living spaces like apartments, so its much easier to move as two separate parts. All king size box springs are sold as splits for the same reason (beacuse they are huge and impossible to get around narrow corners and stairways).

Can a duvet hide a bad box spring?

It really depends on the size of your bed. If you have a full or queen size bed a king size or Cal King duvet cover might be able to cover the box spring. I recommend getting a bed skirt which will fully cover the the box spring.
