== == At no place in the New Testament can one read of a set age of accountability. There are exampels of babies going to Heaven. You can read in the book of 2 Samuel chapter 12 verse 23 23: "But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me." == == == == == == Children who die before the age of accountability will return to that God who gave them life as innocent as the day they were born. No sins will be upon their innocent heads. Answer Assuming that "no understanding of God" means the child is too young to have rejected God then I believe he/she will gain heaven. Of course, the reality is that it is the Lord God who decides who will be received in heaven and who won't and all of us no matter how certain we may be that we are already saved are entirely dependant on his infinite mercy. As Matthew 7 Vs 22-24 recalls our Lord's words: "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."Answer Babies must be regarded as "innocent" in its true meaning that they may have at this point, no understanding of God but that doesn't mean that they will never expect to. Babies won't be excluded from heaven simply because they have never had the opportunity to know God. Babies don't need of baptism, for the Lord himself said that the kingdom of God belongs to the children, the little ones.Matthew 19:13. Answer Babies, dont need baptized. Baptism is only for those who have trusted Christ as their Saviour as a conscious choice of their will. Babies are still safa however. All are born with a sin nature, but that nature doesnt "revive" and cause us to sin, until we become old enough to know the difference between right and wrong. Rom 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. Pauls speaks of before the law, when he was an innocent child, but when the commandmanet came or when he became aware of right and wrong, his sin nature revived in him, soon thereafter he chose to sin and since then was in need of being saved.

Yes. in fact, babies (even full grown people for that matter) who have never been introduced to God, or who were never taught to understand who he is and anything about him can still go to heaven. I always use these two examples: A mother miscarries her baby during labor; that baby was never able to know who God is, that baby was completely innocent, that baby couldn't have possibly done anything wrong. Catholics believe that gods loving arms carry that baby home to heaven. World peace activist Mahatma Gandhi; Gandhi was a Buddhist who led many people to peace. Obviously he wasn't a Christian, but how would God not lead him to heaven? The baptized child would definitely have gone to heaven since he/she is innocent and baptized. I hope that you are not asking because of a baby actually passing, but if you are, rest assured, they are safe in the arms of the Lord.

We don't have the answer for this, but then it is not up to yes. God binds men to His Sacraments and commands that we be baptized to enter heaven. However, He, Himself, is not bound by His commands, and we don't know what provision He has made for little ones who are unable, not through their own fault, to be baptized. So, we naturally do all that we can, and entrust the rest to His mercy. That being said, if we know that they must be baptized, and neglect their baptism, and they die, we trust them to His mercy, but we, who were negligent in our duty to baptize our child, face only His justice, not His mercy. If you have neglected this for a child, and that child died, you should confess it as soon as possible.

The trouble with heaven is that all we know about it is pure speculation - even whether there is a heaven at all. The Protestant churches generally say unbaptised babies do go to heaven but Catholic tradition has been that unbaptised babies only go to a place or state called limbo. More recently, the Catholic Church has insisted that its teachings on limbo have never been official doctrine, and is moving away from the notion of limbo towards babies going direct to heaven.

I generally agree with Logan's answer, despite our different take on what "God" is. Baptism is a ritual that is geared primarily for a certain group of people in the flesh, in one religion among many, and it does not impact where the soul of anyone goes after death. The soul of any baby, the personality, is fully formed before birth, as souls are billions of year old. Character, selflessness, and the ability to love genuinely and deeply, dictate the ability or inability to ascend to a heavenly plane after death. The transitioned soul of a baby simply goes back to where he or she was before in the Spirit.

Yes, of course, in the case of babies, the parents understanding and faith provides what is necessary for the infant.

If your brother was baptized and in a state of grace he would probably be in either Purgatory or Heaven. Either way, Heaven is his final destination.
