Will bad distributor on Ford probe make the transmission act up?

I'm no pro so, please excuse me .It sounds funny but the function of the transmission has little to do with the engine starting or timing of sparks. Check trans fluid if you haven't already. Take to [aamco,ect.] for free check -up...to get better understanding of things.

look up the engine cylinder numbers, then look at the front of your engine, or on the intake manifold. There will be a series of raised numbers, (you may have to clean off some grease), this is your timing order. could be a few things, start cheap- make sure the metal is still on the rotary button, and that the contacts are on the distributor cap. These go bad quite often. if all is good there ohm out the coil. If all ohm readings are in spec then it is probably the unit inside the distributor.
