All Chevy V8's and inline 6 use the same bolt pattern and it is different from the bolt pattern used for Buick, Olds, Pontiac and Cadillac. A transmission that fits one Chevy V8 or inline 6 will fit any other V8 or inline 6. Not sure if V6 uses the same pattern.

Yes it will fit. But it will never run. Due to the fuel pump,engine wireing harness, ECM/Engine controll module/computer. To make the 88 V-6 engine run you would need all of this stuff from a 1988 V-6 truck.
