Yes, I believe it will, Based on the NYS inspection site. The mechanic will advise you that the light is on. It is not included in the OBD II diagnostics which is sent to DMV. Check out the site and judge for yourself, or ask a mechanic you trust.
No, it will not.
No, if you air bag light is on or showing an error in Texas your car will not pass inspection. In some cases the light comes on for no reason and just needs to be reset.
Unfortunately, not. My inspection in my Jetta is due and I just found out that I need to pay around $1500 to have my airbag light turned off in order to pass inspection.
yes it will pass bag lights are exceptional but so long as they are not exposed. or missing. but check engine light should not be on at all ....although if the engine light persists you will be allowed a waiver for one year
Emissions, yes. If there's an inspection for vehicle safety systems, it would fail that one.
Under yhe horn pad/air bag on the steering wheel is what that is referred to as a clock spring. The most likely cause for the light is that the clock spring is defective.
Yes it will pass
Depends where you live each state has different rules and states like Florida don't even require an inspection sticker. Ask a local garage before you bring the vehicle in for inspection, if your state requires the air bag light be off to pass you can either have it repaired or remove the bulb before getting the inspection done. I suspect from your question that your seat belt has a tensioning system that interacts with the air bag system. And I also suspect that where you live there is a safety inspection of sorts. Well anyway the answer is probably yes. I have seen where a vehicle can pass a safety inspection with the air bag system light on and the car passed. BUT WHY IN THE WORLD ONE NOT ALL THE SAFETY THEY COULD RELIABLY GET. AND REMEMBER IF THE AIR BAG ON THE STEERING WHEEL WENT OFF THERE'S A CHANCE THE HORN BUTTON MIGHT WORK
The air bag system did not pass self test at startup time and is nonfunctional. Lets hope it's just the fuse.
Evidently the clock spring for the air bag is defective. If you are in an accident and the airbag is not operating then they may refuse to pay for medical expenses. This is not a job for the do it yourselfer. Once the repair is made then the repair needs to be certified by a dealership.
If the light is on for the Grand Am Air Bag Unit, there could be a problem with the air bag. Some vehicles that have been in an accident and had the air bag deployed may need to have the air bag light reset. Disconnecting the battery for about five minutes might take care of this problem. If not, the vehicle should be taken to a dealer for service of the air bag.
