No, jock itch will not go away on its own it will get worse. You need to go to the drug store and get the cream used to treatit, like cruex or lotramin, any of the anti jock itch creams or sprays. you can go to your doctor and getprescription creams which are a lot stronger and the doctor can make sure it isn't something else, like ring worm.
you should also keep your clothes that you wear against your crotch as clean and dry as possible and try to wear loose fitting clothes that will allow your crotch to stay dry.
