It's impossible to tell for sure. If he does it will take 3 months to a year. Also parakeets often die shortly after their mate or companion dies. You should take it to the vet to have him checked because grieving parakeets are very susceptible to illness. Sometimes parakeets will die from grief and no other reason can be found wrong. My close friend had two parakeets, and after the female died suddenly of egg-binding, the male refused to eat or fly or do anything. All he would do is lie in the cage in the spot where his mate had died, and if he was moved he would go back to that spot. My friend took him to 2 avian vets who could not figure out what was wrong, no infections or tumors or anything like that. The vet gave her vitamin food to feed him. She hand fed him for a while and then he died anyway.
Yes it can, but in might take time from the bird to get along with its new mate.
When they mate after 5 weeks or so..
No, parakeets must have a mate in order to lay fertilized eggs. If they don't have a mate, the parakeet's eggs will be hatched unfertilized, meaning that they will not carry a baby.

it really depends on what type of parakeet you have and what environment they live in...they need to have a friendly and not mean mate too..
Normally, yes.
No of course not. Unless it has that sort of personality
Yes, we had 2 lovebirds and a parakeet which were all in the same cage. They were all female and one of the lovebirds was the mediator between the other 2. The mediator lovebird passed away and the parakeet and other lovebird get along perfectly.
Yes, I believe they can.
