Year make model engine size helps, Usually it seems it wants to start but won't. Check for the security light lit up on the dash. Very common GM problem.
If the lights on the dash all light up but does not crank, this is probably the immobilizer system killing the starter. This is only with cars with a chip in the key and when they put the remote starter in they used a 556u peice and probably took one of your chip keys and installed it in the car. When they wrapped the windings around your key cylinder to "trick the car to thinking the key is being used" they may not have secured it properly. If this car doesn't have a chip key then I'd check to make sure the starter wire (Starter side) is hooked up. On directed electronics products its usually a thick purple wire
it could be a bad chip in the key or the starter. i could almost gaurantee that if you keep trying to turn it on it will start. i know someone with the same problem, and he turns the key over and over and it started.
I had this problem with my 1998 Lumina . sometimes it would start but not very often. Sprayed WD40 in the key hole and Blew it out with compressed air. Cleaned the chip on the key. Starts every time now.
there is a security chip under the colum maybe it fell out happened to me once
you may have blown the computer chip that regulates your lights its usually your hazard lights button that's the chip.
sounds like its in the key try cleaning the chip on the key then waiting 3 min
Perhaps a bad chip or reader if so equipped
The red round circle light is the indicator for a failure in the theft alarm or Sentry Key (chip key) system. The red round circle light is the indicator for a failure in the theft alarm or Sentry Key (chip key) system.
Check the neutral lockout switch and the keyswitch. Also wipe off the resistor on your key (the chip in the middle) if it is dirty then no continuity and no start.
The original key has a chip that is programmed to start the vehicle. A copy key will unlock the doors but will not start the vehicle because it does not have a chip in it. If the copy DOES have a chip, it need to be programmed in order to start the vehicle. You may need a key with a security chip in it, check dealer
It could be as simple as replacing the ignition key. Each key has a chip that comunicates directly with the car. If the chip goes bad, the car's starter will turn over, but the engine will not start. There is no after market key that will work. You must purchase them from a dealer. Costly little buggers, roughly around $150....... what kind of vehicle is this?
The chip which holds software that is used to start the computer is the BIOS. The type of chip may be ROM, EEPROM, or NVRAM.
