Yes, this stuff irritated my skin.
No. It ruined my washer. It doesn't break down in h2o.
Nothing happens at least i think I'll have to try. Wrong: I am not EVERYONE, but I am allergic to certain chemicals contained in some detergents. I break out in hives and if enough comes into contact with me my skin swells and cracks. Best to not put laundry soap on anything but laundry.
Enzymes can make a big difference in how effective a laundry detergent is, especially when removing stains from food grease, blood, ice cream, and so forth. Enzymes used in cleaners in general "break down" or decompose large molecules like proteins and fats, which may be part of the dirt you want removed from clothing.
I heard a radio program on NPR one day about laundry, and the person said that detergent made specifically for cold water washes are really much better for cold washing, and that aside from really dirty clothes, most of your clothes can be washed in cold water, using that special cold water detergent. Most laundry detergents are designed to be used in warm to hot water, and don't properly break down or clean well in cold water. But the specially designed cold water detergent is formulated differently.
"Best" is relative. What is excellent for one person, may not be good for another. Personally, I can't use Tide, although it is an excellent detergent. It makes me break out in a rash. Other detergents have too many perfumes added to them and trigger off migraines so I opt for the cleaners like Arm & Hammer Unscented.
The nonpolar end of the detergent molecule attracts the oil molecules spreading them out as the detergent spreads across the water.
