Generally if it is a thread on fan clutch, yes.

Generally if it is a thread on fan clutch, yes.
If it is an electric fan, NO. If it is a mechanical fan test it to see. If you can turn the fan by hand with the engine not running it has a clutch.
It is designed to free wheel until the engine reaches running tempture. The way you check the fan clutch is make sure the engine is hot, norther words go and drive it a few miles, then come back and leave the engine running, open the hood then stand somewhere where you can see the fan turning. Then turn the engine off and the fan blades should only turn about 1 time as soon as you turn engine off. If the fan spends several times then the fan clutch is bad. Replace fan clutch. Just be sure the engine is hot when you do this test.
engine fan has treads backwards to tighten while engine is running...it would work loose if it did not. turn it to tighten it like a regular bolt to remove it hope this helps
Lefty loosey to remove the fan clutch but the fan assembly rotates CCW when the engine is running.
A fan clutch can't be tightened, just needs to be replaced.
Clock wise to tighten.
Engags and disengages the engine fan as needed.
if fan is belt driven you have a worn fan clutch check where shaft enters clutch if there is any leaks or clumps of road grime sticking to fan clutch its lost its internal oil supply causing slippage some clutches will slip when engine is cold and automatically spin faster as temp rises this is called a thermostatically controlled fan clutch also w/engine off grab fan firmly and check for any play between blade and shaft replace as needed
Start the engine up and let it run until it gets to running temperature 195 degrees are so. Then have someone to turn the engine off while you are looking at the fan on the front of the engine. If the fan clutch is good then when the engine is turned off the fan should only turn 1 or 2 turns then stop. If the fan keeps spinning more then that then the fan clutch is bad. Replace it.
well if it has the same engine layout as my 1993 190e in the front of the engine there is a fan, and that fan has a clutch integrated into it, to engage when the engine starts to over heat, and they do wear out which means you can stop the fan with your hand while the engine is running. not recommended to try doing with your fingers.
That is the way it is designed to work, It has a thermal clutch and as the shaft on the water pump heats up then the fan clutch starts to tighten up and quites spinning freeley so it can pull air through the radiator. The way you check the fan to make sure it is working correctly is to go and drive it a few miles then come back, leave it running and open the hood. Now stand were you can see the fan turning and turn the engine off, The fan should turn no more then 2 turns when the engine is shut off, If it spends are free wheels then the fan clutch needs replaced.
its right on the fan on the front of engine
