NO not even possible, just look at them side by side and you will see the difference. One is electronic and one is not. The letter E means electronic.

No. Unless you replace the motor. The 1995 Pontiac/Chevrolet 5.7L LT1 is electronically controlled and the 4L60E is also electronically controlled. Both must be present for the drive-train to operate. If you replace the motor with a standard 5.7L non-electronic, you could put a 700R4 transmission in the car. Yes it will. The 4L60E is an electronic version of the 700r4. You need to slightly modify it but it will work. My 86 Iroc is rolling a LT1 from a 97 Fbody and a beefed up 700r4

You'd need to check the VIN of your 93 S10 against manufacturer records... 93 was the first model year that the 4L60E was put into use, but some of the earlier 93 models still used the 700R4. If it came with a 4L60E, the 99 4L60E should work.. if it came with a 700R4, making the swap to a 4L60E will be a bit more complicated.

Everything is the same except the case and the valve body. I've parted out a lot of low mileage S-10's with 4L60E trannys and pulled the guts out and built 700R4's. The 4.3 V6 tranny's are the same as the V8 tranny's. You can do the same with 4 cyl tranny's but the torque converter, pump and front shaft is different.

The 89 does not have a 4L60E. The 4L60E wasn't used until 1993. The predecessor to the 4L60E was the mechanically controlled 4L60, which itself was just a rebadged 700R4. It will not be compatible with a 97 model year vehicle.
