Everything is the same except the case and the valve body. I've parted out a lot of low mileage S-10's with 4L60E trannys and pulled the guts out and built 700R4's.
The 4.3 V6 tranny's are the same as the V8 tranny's. You can do the same with 4 cyl tranny's but the torque converter, pump and front shaft is different.

No. Unless you replace the motor. The 1995 Pontiac/Chevrolet 5.7L LT1 is electronically controlled and the 4L60E is also electronically controlled. The 4L60E is an electronic version of the 700r4. You need to slightly modify it but it will work. My 86 Iroc is rolling a LT1 from a 97 Fbody and a beefed up 700r4
