The problem was that Google Wave launched and there was more bark than bite; a lot of 'buzz' but not enough practical use for the regular user to comprehend. So it was misunderstood as a failed product; then again, it might be that it just wasn't used to it's full capacity because what do most regular users need such a tool for?
The second 'wave' of Google Wave should hopefully do better since the Wave team is lobbying to get it integrated into other Google apps like Docs and email, the places where regular users might find it more useful and practical.

According to De Broglie all the matter follows both particle nature and wave nature. The wave thus associated with the matter is called a matter wave.
Matter vibrates in the same direction as the wave is traveling
compressional wave
Compression wave
transverse wave
There are mainly four types of matter waves: de Broglie waves, matter-wave interference patterns, standing matter waves, and matter-wave tunneling. These waves are associated with the wave-particle duality of matter, demonstrating the wave-like characteristics of particles at the quantum level.
This describes a mechanical wave, where matter oscillates in the same direction as the wave propagation. An example of this is a water wave as the water moves up and down in the direction of the wave.
The type of wave that moves through matter and vibrates your eardrums is called a sound wave.
A longitudinal wave.
Google Wave is a collaborative online tool that is used for communicating between one another. Check out wave.google.com for more information.
