There are actually plans for a Shrek 4 and a Shrek 5.
Shrek 4 is titled "Shrek 4ever After" and is scheduled for release May 21st, 2010.
Shrek 5 is supposed to be the final film in the series and is tentatively scheduled for release in 2013.

∙ 6y agoWhile nothing is official yet, on October 19th 2016, it was reported that the co-writer of the Austin Powers sequels, was being courted to write a fifth installment in the Shrek series when his pitch impressed the studio. Whether it actually gets greenlit remains to be seen.
