all hamsters housed TOGETHER have the potential to fight, but u can minimize it:
1.) litter mates are the best, two sisters, or two brothers works the best! more than 2 and u can have more constant "HEAD OF THE HOUSE changes" meaning they will fight over whose in charge with EXAMPLE: brother C is in charge..... so what about brother A and brother B? those two will fight to determine their pecking order... and if any falls ill, that ranking order may be challenged and u get more fights..... best is 2! siblings is best
2.) i house 4 of dwarfs in colonies, but heres the thing, either buy food dishes (large enough for like everyone to SIT in the dish at the same time, with room for at least 1/2 more guests..... so in a group of 4? buy a dish that will sit at least 6-7 dwarfs in the dish so that no one hogs the dish and theres some space between them if they all decided to eat at the same time.... food and water and shelter are the priorities in SURVIVAL... everything else they can fight over with less, but those 3 are very crucial to their survival
*** lasagna dishes (1.5 cm deep, 8" across, and 3.5" down, makes for a nice 6 ham buffet dish, also food enough for more than the hamsters u have in the cage, so if u got 4 hamsters, food for 5 or 6 works best.... theres less rush to grab and stuff their cheeks cuz they worry they won't get enough.... i gen feed enough for 2 whole days DAILY, so they never worry and btw mine don't even hoard at all.... food for thought right? no hoarding?
3.) if u can buy one wheel per HAMSTER, PLUS 1, so a group of 4? have 4-5 wheels..... or if budget is an issue? at least put 2 in for a group of 4, and buy the next size up, so dwarfs can use the 6.5 but get them the 8" this will allow 2 to run same time, and place at opposite ends of your cage, so that they gotta run to either sides of the cages to check if its in use, this will reduce crowding at the base of one wheel
4.) if the hamsters do fight? always take the BULLY OUT FIRST, it sends a message to the bully (it takes away its power, cuz it feels powerful when it wins a fight) then take the victim out, and if u want THEN place back the bully ...... by doing it this way u won't be telling the bully that he won
*when putting the victim back in the tank/cage/bin whatever, take the bully out, place him in a holding cage (like a transport cage) scoop out most of the bedding, add fresh bedding, and then put the victim in, leave him/her in the newly cleaned cage for about 30 mins so that "victim becomes elevated in that its now his/her home" and then add the bully back opposite side of wherever your victim is currently at, so that they can sniff their way towards each other, it doesn't absolutely work, but it does work better than adding victim back into the tank that the bully is sitting and waiting for him/her to return.
They'll get depressed if lonely but they will fight as i have found out with mine found it dead yesterday night eaten by the other.
Yes. But both of them will be killed.
I DO NOT KNOW XD just kidding I believe that you can't put russiandwarves with roborovski's or they will fight.
No they will fight.
No.They will fight
the male hamster will choose one female hamster and the left one will die
no i would move them out the hamsters could get in a fight or eat the others babies
No.....................Dont do that they will fight and try to kill each other
No. They may fight. All petshops should / will keep them separate
Well, a small cage is if you have 1-2 roborovski hamsters. A medium is 3-4, and a large is 5-6. If many roborovskis are in the same cage, then they could attack and hurt each other.
NO. You can not put two different animals in the same cage! This is dangerous. They may fight and the hamster will probably not live. So unless you want a dead hamster, do not put them together.
Yes, if they are mature, they will fight to the death. However, they can live with each other when they are still babies. {This is why it is hard to breed hamsters.}
All you have to do is put the male and the female into the same cage. But you should keep an eye on them for they may fight or mate.
Sanitize the cage and get new bedding and the cage is good as new!
