Yes, you should be very careful with that. Water will damage most electronic products.
yes a hard drive can be damaged by water...
It is possible that dropping a laptop can destroy its hard drive. But it depends on the type of hard drive it used and how hard it drops. It is very possible that if you drop it hard enough to damage its hard drive that you may cause other damage.
No
Hard drives are really good protected, you can damage if you are shaking a hard drive extrimely hard. The travel hard drive series made using special technologies and it's not that easy to damage them. It's unlikey that your hard drive was damaged by airport security machines. You could break if you have dropped it.
You nuke it. XD
No.
No, it will not. But!!! It's highly not recommended because you might have some water stock somewhere in the hard drive electronics and together with some dust it's a good conductor. What will happen of you connect such drive to a computer you will damage the hard drive electronics (because of short current) which is not better than destroying of data.
Removing the hard drive will not cause any damage. However, unless you add another hard drive, or have some other device you can boot off of, the computer will be effectively useless.
It damage our statues in kwaZulu Natal e.g the waz a statue of Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg on Soweto city but it waz damage by hard water in 26 october 2009

Rub a strong magnet over the entire surface of the hard drive, or to be absolutely sure, physically damage the hard drive with a nail and hammer. (Text book)
Most hard drives have a hard metal case to protect the disk(s) within, so they could endure a small drop or two. But yes, they are sensitive to physical damage.
