if the distributor goes bad then u probably wont get a spark.
On the '93-'97 GT's the ignition coil is part of the distributor. If your coil goes bad you need to change the distributor.

Everything goes bad over a period of time. you did not say whats wrong with it. Be sure you replace it with a FACTORY GM CAP FROM DEALER. Are it will go bad again.

it could be a number of things. dead battery, bad alternator, bad starter, bad fuel pump,timing off,bad distributor,bad flywheel,bad connnections,no gas,bad carb.
Amp module, get a new distributor, the parts inside are not serviceable.
What i would do first is check the distributor cap and rotary button that's what usually goes bad first. if that's not it it could be the coil or maybe even the distributor itself.

There can be many reasons. A bad distributor if so equipped, bad spark plug wires, no signal from the Electronic Control Unit Or Engine Control Management Computer, a bad fuse for the ignition circuit...and on and on.
