Yes you can. I do it all the time and have over 800 songs from my computer to my Ipod. Just load the music into the computer then plug in the IPOD and hit synic. There is also a menu item that you can check that tells the IPod to find the new music.

First of all, you have to make sure that ipod has been registered on the itunes. If you don't have itunes you need to download it off the apple website.(www.apple.com) Once that is downloaded register your ipod touch on the itunes. Then plug your ipod into the laptop. Go to the page that has the ipod icon next to it. On the button there is a button that either says sync of apply. Click either. Wait for it to download and say it's done. Un-plug your ipod and see if the music appeared under the icon. That is all there is to it!!! :)
Plug in your ipod and go itunes "File" -> "Transfer Purchases".
Plug your iPod into your laptop/computer. When it appears in iTunes, double click on the name you already have for it (when it appears on the left sidebar) and then type your new name and press return.
