Yes, they could.
A miss or a missfire is when the spark plug does not create a spark or sparks at the wrong time. Causes of a missfire are: worn out spark plugs, bad spark plug gapping, bad or broken spark plug wire(s), worn out distributor cap and or rotor, bad ignition coil, worn gears on the distributor or camshaft, worn out timing chain/belt, for computer controlled engines the coil pack(s), ignition module, cam sensor, knock sensor, oxygen sensor, ecm, throtle position sensor, idle air control valve just to name a few (depends on manufacturer and model).
replace the ignition leads then try the coil aswell Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, injector, internal engine, etc.
Faultfinding describes Miss Scatcherd.
Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron was crowned Miss America 2010.
seems that the timing is still incorrect. the distributor may be worn and causing this.problem may also be the points, a crack in the distributer cap,
Spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, dirt in the injctors.....
Distributor cap, rotor, plug wires or spark plugs could do that. Time for a tune up.
Could be as simple as needing a tune up with spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, air and fuel filters.
bad distributor cap would be first choice, next would be the rotor button in distributor.then the coil
A bad fuel injector poppet, a bad spark plug, a bad spark plug wire, a bad distributor cap and rotor.
The pick-up coil in a distributor could cause a miss, but the possibility is tiny. It would more likely cause the engine to cut out completly, even for just a 1/4 second rather than a steady miss.
change distributor cap and rotor
yes a bad or partially clogged injector could cause this problem
Sounds like you need some new plugs, wires and cap and rotor. Especially the cap and rotor.
depending on how 'bad' it is, it would cause your car not to start.... otherwise you would have an intermettinet miss and wouldn't always be the same cylinder. with a multimeter you can check the condition of the distributor.... If it is an intermittent no start condition.... I would look at the fuel pressure and the injector.
You may have a wire on the wrong plug or on the wrong place on the distributor cap. This will cause it to miss because of the sequence of the fire order.
The cause is almost always an ignition system issue, cyl #2 is most likely getting no spark! When these ignition components go bad, they can cause misfires:Spark plugs, spark plug wires, and distributor; cap, rotor, coil(s), ignitor etc.It is also possible that the fuel injector for cyl #2 is not spraying!
