1995- Shawmut Center 95-05- FleetCenter 05-08- TD Banknorth Garden After moving away from the old Boston Garden, the Celtics built what was to be called the Shawmut Center, after Shawmut Bank (Boston is on the Shawmut Peninsula). Shawmut was purchased by Fleet Bank and the arena was known as FleetCenter from 1995 until 2005. Fleet Bank was purchased by Bank of America who sold the naming rights to TD Banknorth. In early 2008, Banknorth was purchased by Commerce Bank. They will change the name after the 2007-08 season for the Celtics and Bruins, but have promised it will contain the word "Garden."

Bill McGhee was born September 5, 1908, in Shawmut, AL, USA.
Boston was built on some land that was named the Shawmut Peninsula. it is not an island.
There are two peninsulas on the map of New England, one of them is Shawmut Peninsula, which is easily located because that is where the city of Boston was established.
The TD Garden is a multi-purpose arena located in Boston, Massachusetts. It was originally known as the Shawmut Center, and was later called the FleetCenter and the TD Banknorth Garden. It is known locally as the Boston Garden or just The Garden.
it appears Northeast Savings was acquired by Shawmut, which was then acquired by Fleet, both transactions occurring in 1995. Fleet was acquired by Bank of America in 2003. I found a mortgage satisfaction at http://public.clerk.co.escambia.fl.us/xml_or_1b.asp?uinstr=1997385622 listing all of these as grantors, and the document describes them Fleet as a successor by merger (through the other entities) to Northeast Savings.
