Depends on the year, make and model but on most all newer cars and trucks yes they are run on the same belt..................
Power steering fluid contains some detergents and additives that may be harmful to the motor. Unless there is something written on the compressor specifying the fluid requirements, I would use a non-detergent 30 weight motor oil.
The power steering is controlled by the body control module. There is no fluid.
Are you sure it is the A/C Compressor and not the power steering pump? LS400, SC 300 and SC 400 are known to have power steering pump issues that leak onto the compressor causing ac compressor failure. Replace the pump as soon as you see a leak.
Looking at the engine on the left side under the A/C compressor . That is the power steering pump. Uses ATF.
If you are refering to the A/C compressor, it is under the power steering pump, on the right side of the engine, while facing it.
It drives the alternator, power steering, and ac compressor.
It is located at the front of the engine, on the right side underneath the power steering unit. This would be facing the car.
If it was ordered with power steering it would have it.
Does the power steering and a/c compressor use a common belt? Belt may be slipping or glazed
The A/C compressor is located at the right side top/front of the engine, right above the power steering pump...
No. The main serpentine belt controls the alternator, air conditioner compressor, and water pump, but the other belt only drives power steering. Since power steering is not critical to driving a small car, it's OK to wait until the belt completely wears out before replacing it unless the car is being driven by someone who would panic if they lost power steering.
The power steering is driven by the serpentine belt which must be changed by releasing the tensioner, located below the alternator. The only other belt is for the A/C compressor.
