As general rule, if you quit a job, you are not eligible for unemployment benefits. If you lose your job through no fault of your own, your eligibility will be determined by the rules of the state you move to. A period of residency may be required.

Can you receive unemployment benefits if your company moved out of state?

In order to be eligible for unemployment you need to have been released from your job at no fault of your own. Your company moving out of the state would qualify in that category and provided that you meet the other requirements you should be eligible to collect unemployment while you are actively looking for work.

Can you file for unemployment if you resigned and moved to another state?

Generally if you leave any job voluntarily you are not eligible to collect benefits regardless of whether you move or not.

Can you collect unemployment from North Carolina if you moved from California?

Strictly speaking, no. If you haven't worked and become eligible for benefits from North Carolina, you can only receive them from California, providing you were eligible back there. What you can do, however, again if you had qualified, is to apply through the North Carolina office to receive them from the "liable state" (CA) through the interstate unemployment program.

Can you continue your Washington state unemployment if you had to move to Arizona?

I moved from Washington to Missouri, I found a job right away but it was seasonal. When I was laid off for the winter I had not worked long enough in MO to be eligible for unemployment thru Missouri, so my claim was paid out of Washington (at that state's maximum amount). It was definately a benefit because it paid more than Missouri would have. In fact, I received more in unemployment per week than I got paid per week in Missouri

Can you collect unemployment for quitting a job in Florida for husbands job relocation which was in another part of Florida 7 hours away?

Generally yes you would be eligible. You would file for unemployment & cite this reason. The unemployment office will schedule you for an adjudication interview in which time you will provide them with transfer documentation or new hire documents which state your husbands job offer information. The date in which you moved has to be proximate to the date your husband started his new job. For example, if you furnish documentation that states your husband was offered his job May of last year & you just now moved, this will raise a red flag. The other piece of information that the unemployment office will evaluate is the reason you provided to your employer for quitting. They will contact the employer & if the employer provides a written statement from you giving 2 weeks notice so you can further your education in school, that will not go over well. However, if you stated you quit to relocate due to your husbands job & you can get the documentation from your husband, then you should be approved with no problems providing that you are otherwise eligible.

Can you collect unemployment from Florida and moved to GA?

Yes, and you would file in Florida because it is the "liable state" which collected employment taxes from the employer you worked for.

How would a zebra's life change if moved to a different ecosystem?

It depends on the echo system. If you moved them to The North Pole, they would probably go extinct.

Can you draw unemployment from a state you once lived in?

Interesting question. I think it depends on how far the job moved. Like, if you have a job in Kansas City Kansas and it moves to Kansas City Missouri - being adjoining cities - probably not because you could still drive to work. I'm sure if your job was moved farther away, your employer would terminate your employment and you could draw unemployment. Phone your local unemployment office and ask.

Can you collect unemployment if you move too far to commute to your job?

I am not totally sure what you are asking but you cannot collect unemployment if you are the one moving and cannot commute to the job. You can collect unemployment if it was the other way around and your company moved two states away and you did not want to move because courts will often look at that as being forced out of your job at no fault of your own. You will however still need to meet all the other requirements to qualify for unemployment. If it is merely for your convenience and not one of the allowable "quits" as defined by your state's employment security department, no, you would not be eligible.

Can you collect unemployment from California if you temporarily move to Illinois?

Yes, you can collect unemployment insurance if you have worked in Hawaii but moved to California. Even if you think you do not have enough in Hawaii's unemployment insurance to collect. I worked in California all my life and was offered a job in Hawaii in October 2008. I worked until March 2009 and then tried to collect while i lived in Hawaii. I was denied befits in Hawaii in March 2009, so I moved back to California and could not find work so i collected unemployment in California. It was a knowledgeable person in California EDD that recommended that i file in Hawaii versus California because of the amount i would collect there was a lot more than i collected here. I told them I was denied benefits over there because i did not work long enough over there (hence; i did not put enough money in Hawaii's Kitty) So California's EDD said they would transfer what I put in California's unemployment insurance to Hawaii's unemployment insurance, then that would make me eligible to collect.

When moving to North Carolina can you collect unemployment until you find a job not collecting unemployment in Rhode Island now?

When I moved from Massachusetts to NC in 1990 I was not able to collect due to the fact that I left my job in Mass voluntarily and was not laid off. If you were laid off in RI you might be able to collect but you should have opened a unemployment claim in RI first. <><> If you weren't already collecting it in Rhode Island, nor were eligible to, you also cannot collect in in North Carolina because it is not the "liable" state, in which you had a work history.
