yards or feet. It depends on which unit of measurement you want. I would use a yard for efficiency though.
The term "Foot" came when someone measured a standard mans foot. Though it was said it was a king's foot, some feet are smaller or larger than then 12 inches. The term "inch" came from the Latin word uncio. The word uncio means, 1/12. And an inch is 1/12 of a foot. "Yard" came from middle English word meaning "rod or staff; yard measure". It is said that it was measured from a man's neck to his finger tips.
Unless you happen to come across a measure that gives 1/12 of an inch, te answer is that you cannot. Tape measures do measure in 1/8, 1/10 and 1/16 inches but I do not recall seeing any that measure in 1/12 inch. You could, of course, measure 12 identical items to a accuracy of an inch and divide the total length (expressed in feet) by 100.Unless you happen to come across a measure that gives 1/12 of an inch, te answer is that you cannot. The inch, the foot and the yard come from the Franks and were standardized by Charlemagne (c. 800). However, the English foot (and therefore the other measures) are very slightly different in length from those of c. 800.
A quarter of an inch.
rulerMany early units of measurement were based on human proportions, such as a stride (roughly a yard) or the length or an arm. A hand (4 inches) is still used to measure the height of horses and ponies. The first join of the thumb is roughly 1 inch.
Inches and feet measure length in standard units, in metric meters and centimeters measure length.
inch
Inch is a measure of length; tonne is a measure of mass.
Acre is the answer, it's the most different because it measures an area. Whereas mile, inch, and foot measure length.
kilometer, meter, centimeter, millimeter mile, foot, inch
A tom is a measure of mass. A linear foot is a measure of length. There is no conversion possible between the two measures.
You can't. Square inch is a measure of area and inch is a measure of length.
feet or inch
NO Such unit as 'Metric Inches'. In the metric system of linear measure, the unit is 'centimetres / metres'. In the Imperial System of linear measure, the unit is inches / feet. Next you are referring to linear measure, then at the end refer to volume measure; 'Cubic feet', Please clarify your question.
A word used to describe the inch-pound system is the 'Imperial' system. The Imperial or British measurement system uses the inch and foot as a measure of length, and pounds as a measure for weight. This is different than the metric system that uses the meter and kilogram to measure length and weight, respectively.
If you mean tools then: -Ruler -Tape Measurer Etc If you mean unit then: -Centimeter/Milimeter/Meter -Inch/Foot
None. An inch is a measure of length or distance while a square foot is a measure of area. The two measure different things and, according to basic principles of dimensional analysis, conversion from one to the other is not valid.
