If the professor has a doctorate, you can refer to him/her as either professor or doctor. Personally, when I was in college I referred to my professors - who had a doctorate - as doctor. I figured they earned it so they deserve to be called doctor. Besides, I think they liked that better.

Another take: Most doctors are not professors. You could conclude from this that being a professor is, in a sense, a higher honor.

"Professor" is generally a job title, though it is sometimes (rarely) used to denote a certain degree of education or academic success, and there are specific honors and titles such as a specific chair at a university. "Doctor" signifies anyone with a doctorate, such as a PhD, a MD, or a JD. If someone has a doctorate, unless otherwise specified it is rude to knowingly disregard that title, though if you are unsure it is acceptable to refer to a professor (they hold some position at a university/college) as "professor", or someone on the street as "Mr.", "Mrs." or "Miss". A professor's full title might be, for example, "Professor First Last Name, PhD", and they would thus be referred to as "Dr. Last Name". A medical professional who has achieved an MD would be "First Last Name, MD", and would be called "Dr. Last Name". Anyone with both is "Professor First Last Name, PhD, MD".

The answer to this question depends on what you value, usually Doctors make more money and if in life you want to be rich doctor is a better profession. Remember though that it takes years and year to complete college, medical school and different types of internships. However, if you enjoy having a steady schedule and not having to deal with being on call or losing patients the far less stressfull job is teaching. Both jobs require that you be good with people and friendly.

Typically, the minimum degree requirement for being a college or university is a master's degree in the subject area being taught, with a doctorate preferred. Thus, the professor can have a master's degree which is a lower degree than the doctorate, or a doctorate.

It's not fair to compare the two professions as they serve different purposes and require different skills. Both teachers and doctors play important roles in society and contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities in different ways.

What jobs did Jewish men have in 1933 after Hitler dismissed all civil servants?

German Jewish men and women did not only work as civil servants; they also worked as lawyers, doctors, craftsmen, professors, grocers, traders, and virtually every other occupation at the time that everyone else practiced. There were many Jews in higher professions such as lawyers, doctors, and professors. The Nazis began purging German Jews out of higher professions first by throwing out all Jewish professors, followed by doctors, lawyers, civil servants, and mostly all other occupations by 1937. Most German Jews - those that were unlucky enough to remain inside Germany - were unemployed by the onset of World War II. They were deported to ghettos and concentration camps, where they were evetually starved, worked, gassed, or shot to death.
