Seagal Sensei has opened many Aikido dojo. He mostly will do special seminars rather than teach an everyday Aikido class. After he came from Japan he began his career in Acting. Since then, he does not practice Aikido or teach as much as he use to. He may also have private lessons or a private dojo but generally not open to the public.

If you are wanting to learn Aikido on the Internet then I would search youtube and other video sharing sources like that. You can also purchase DVD's from Blackbelt Magazine and many many other sources. Also, I highly recommend that you visit a Dojo or somewhere that practices Aikido because getting that kind of experience is very valuable. You wont be able to do the art correctly unless you go to a Dojo.
Where can you get cheap aikido lessons in southern California and is it possible for you to work part time at this place to pay for the lessons?
There are many dojo which may let you do this. Our Dojo is located in Anaheim, CA. You could use aikiweb.com as a source to search for places to train then obviously you would have to inquire. You must find a good school, and a good teacher who values Aikido more than money.
Seagal began his adult life as an aikido instructor in Japan, and is currently a 7th dan in aikido. He is considered the first foreigner to ever own and operate an aikido dojo in Japan. Let me remind you that past 6th dan, you do not get another dan by studing the art. The 7th dan and forth, is presented to the person by it's contribution to the art. Seagal gave a contribution to Aikido… Read More

Hapkido and Aikido are entirely different martial arts. As far as belts, these are entirely dependent on the dojo or school of each art and would be difficult to standardize.
Depending on how you view what "Aikido" actually is, it is a Martial Art, it is a way of life, and it also contains spiritual things in it as well. Doing physical techniques requires a partner. People actually do "Aikido" on a daily basis, they just dont know it. Many of every day things that people do like drive a car, open doors, and drinking from a glass are movements which are found in Aikido… Read More

They're both relativivaly the same. They both originated from Aiki-Ju-Jitsu and broke off into two main branches, Aikido and Jujitsu, which split into smaller branches. For example Aikido now has many other forms such as Shudokan. My dojo had a ju-jitsu seminar and the only diference is ju-jitsu is more aggresive. One isn't more effective than the other.
Yoshinkai/Yoshinkan Aikido Belt colors can vary from Dojo to Dojo. In Japan, you are a white belt until you are a black belt. The color system is American/European, not Japanese. So there really is not a specific answer to your question. Each belt color represents a "Kyu" or "Dan" rank. A "Kyu" rank is any rank which is below a black belt. The first level of the black belt rank is Shodan, which is obviously… Read More
I belong to a Yoshinkan Dojo so I will be more than happy to answer your question. Yoshinkan Aikido was founded by Gozo Shioda in 1955. Shioda was a student under the founder of the Art, Morihei Ueshiba. Shioda took Aikido and shortened the techniques to make them more practicle for police, law enforcment, and military in which Shioda taught all of who I just mentioned. Yoshinkan is big on movements and usually use "smaller… Read More

In Japanese Martial Art terminology (such as in Karate, Judo, or Aikido), people practice in a Dojo (pronounced "doe - joe"). In Taekwondo, the Korean term is a Dojang 도장 (pronounced "doe - jahng"). The word Dojang can be defined as a "gym," "hall of the way," or "hall of enlightment," and is the place where students are taught, and practice the art of Taekwondo.
Seagal has done a lot for the Aikido community, however he is a star, and usually with that, its all about money. Seagal has established a few dojo. The Ten Shin Dojo. There are a few around. I dont know if he still does it or not but usually the dojo will pay for his expenses for him to come out and teach for a day or two. There is Ten Shin Dojo of Oregon… Read More

In the mind of the attacker. Aikido ("the way of harmonious energy") is a Martial Art discipline of avoidance and redirection using the opponent's aggression against himself. The aikidoka does not seek to fight, nor beat someone up, but rather to use natural forces, coordinated with the attacker's energy to assist the attacker in defeating himself. Aikido is practiced in a dojo (school), and is taught by a sensei (teacher), and can be used in… Read More
