The source current is that current which will leave the DC regulator and travel to the load circuit connected to it.
The sink current is that current which may come from the load circuit and attempt to find a path through the ground through the regulator.
Generally most regulators are designed to just source current to a load and are not setup to receive current back(sink it)
DC-DC conversion offers the advantage of a bifurcated power source. AC can be rectified and filtered to supply power under normal conditions at say, 17VDC fed to a 9VDC regulator to power the circuit. A 12VDC battery can serve as an alternate feed to the circuit for times when the AC source fails -- and it is connected to the same 9VDC regulator. Another benefit of DC-DC conversion is isolation to the circuit from noisy events.
voltage regulator is a component to convert pulsating DC into constant DC.
without knowing load, cannot say
With an AC and a DC voltage source in series, the DC voltage can be added to the RMS value of the AC voltage to give the effective voltage.
DC is direct current. It is characterized as a voltage or current that is constant or, more precisely, always in one direction. A battery is an example of a DC source. AC is alternating current. It is characterized as a voltage or current that is alternating, i.e. changing direction at some frequency such as 50Hz or 60Hz. The power supplied to your home from the public power utility is an example of an AC source. ac is attractive in nature while dc is repulsive .
A battery charger is a DC voltage source followed by some kind of regulator that controls the current flowing into the battery. Depending on the type of battery, this regulator might be simple, based on current and/or voltage, or it might be complex, based on voltage slope. A transformer rectifier is simply one of the part of the DC voltage source.
one way is a voltage regulator, another is a DC to DC converter
AC power sources are the adapter power sources. DC power sources are the direct power sources. DC stands for direct current, meaning it is a direct source of energy., and AC stands for alternating current, which means it is a secondary source of power.
The only type of current used by automobiles is dc current although the alternator produces ac current which is converted to dc by rectifiers built into the alternator. Even the alternator is controlled by dc current though through the use of a voltage regulator which limits the amount of negative dc sent to the stator and positive dc current sent to the rotor of the alternator which limits the EMF.
An energy source commonly used for DC current is a battery. A battery generates direct current through a chemical reaction, providing a steady flow of electrons in one direction. Other sources such as solar panels can also produce DC current by converting sunlight into electrical energy.
dc supply is used for control circuit because dc current is an independent source .
Direct Current (DC) is an electric current flowing in one direction only. For the source and more detailed information concerning this subject, click on the related links section indicated below.

DC electricity is direct current, compared to AC which is alternating current where the current is consistantly changing direction, direct current does not change direction. The main source of DC is a battery.
Power supplies can supply AC or DC current.
"dc" is direct current which is what batteries use, whereas "ac" is alternating current, which is what your household receptacle uses.
use kvl or kcl
