No it will not induce you if you are not dilated first. I tried it at 36 weeks and nothing happened, not even the runs. ("Thank god) I am 37 weeks on Tuesday and am now dilated 1 and 50% effaced. So I just took 2 tablespoons of the castor oil. It has only been a hour but so far nothing has happened. I am crossing my fingers though.
Castor oil is a laxative not used to induct labor. As the labor progresses and contraction becomes strong cervical dilatation will increase.
They say having sex helps , a lot of walking helps. you can talk to your Dr. he/she can set up a date to induce.
Don't try to induce before your due date. Your baby's ability to breathe may not be fully developed, and you may risk harming your baby. Wait it out a couple more weeks.
Congratulations on your pregnancy. Don't use castor oil to try and induce labor as the side effects are not worth it, plus there isn't any actual proof that is will work. If you are looking for safe and effective, painless way to induce labor at home then maternity acupressure may be for you. Check out this website, http://yourmaternityresource.com/category/maternityacupreesure/ I bought the book, only $29 and it worked great, well worth the cost of the book. I was 41 weeks along, the best part it actually helped reduce the pain of labor and it was well worth the cost of the book to finally meet my beautiful baby boy. I would suggest that you check with your OB/GYN before trying to induce labor at only 39 weeks though.
No, full term is not until 37 weeks. after that, taking long walks, helps the baby move down, or having sex, always take water w/you if you are out walking. Ask your Dr about getting induced.
You have 2 months to go so yes, it is way too early. His lungs are not done developing yet. If you need to be induced the doctor will help you.
I don't see how it could be safe to take castor oil, isn't it a laxative? It could cause cramps, and induce labor..you should talk to you obgyn before taking anything.
no... its only going to work around your due date if your baby is ready to be born anyway, they dont recomend it as it will give you the runs and who wants to try deal with labour and the runs... very unlikely to work at your due date let alone that early on. do not try and induce labour at 28 weeks as your baby is not delvoloped and maynot survive!
It means you will probably go into labor soon. I've heard of women being dilated 3cm and not going into labor for weeks. As a reference, you must be dilated to 10cm before the doctors or midwifes will allow you to push.
Castor oil induction is NOT recommend if you are not past your due date. There is must debate about if castor oil works, it is primarily a laxitive so be ready for diarrhea and nausea if you use caster oil. It works for some and doesn't for others. Generally premature induction is NOT a good idea unless thesigns health risk to mother or child.
if the baby is slow to develop or is still in the womb after 42 weeks
