When I have needed alphabets in crochet, I have done an online search for "needlepoint alphabet" or "cross stitch alphabet."
The reason I like searching in these categories (needlepoint and cross-stitch), is because it's easy to convert to a filet crochet pattern. One stitch equals one block in filet. Some of the sites you find, will even convert something you type, into a pattern also. Although, there aren't that many places that do the conversion for you.

∙ 15y agoYour question is a bit tougher than first appearance. If you are looking for patterns with the graphics built into another piece, you need to look at chart work. Chart work is crocheting with a printed pattern that has different markings for the project just like counted cross stitch patterns. In fact you can use counted cross stitch patterns for crochet projects. If you are looking for free standing individual pieces like pillows that are symbols, then this is a different proposition. This needs to be sculptural crocheting. Unfortunately I can't find sculptural patterns for this.

Are you looking for instructions for basic crochet or perhaps ones with unusual stitches, a reference site, or a site with lots of links? This would make a box and then a mesh in your project.
