Orange and black have always been Harley's official colors (as used on the Bar & Shield logo that the Davidson brothers' Aunt Janet designed), but the first motorcycles were painted black, followed by Renault grey in 1906, followed by olive green in 1917. After 1922 color choices became more varied and paint colors offered changed each year, along with pinstripe options.
