I was having that problem on my Ford Explorer and the gas station attendant told me to stick the nozzle in all the way and then pull it back an inch - I've done that since and not had a problem - give it a try and see if it works on your Probe

Try looking for a Chiltons manual for the correct year of your probe, I own one for my 92 3.0L v6 and it's loaded with every wiring diagram you need for the vehicle.
Faulty or dirty ESP is most likely cause of the 3-blink code. Cleaning the probe first may correct the problem, from there it's probably the probe itself.
