You changed oil pan gasket and trans gasket on a 1974 Chevelle Malibu used jack to lift up engine on harmonic balancer now your car shakes knocks and dies any ideas?
If you jacked the car up from the harmonic balancer you could have bent the crankshaft or bent the harmonic balancer and now it is no longer balanced. Hope this helps
Go to Autozone and tell them u need a harmonic balancer puller
That requires a special puller to get it off. It is pressed on.
what do you need to take off car to get to c/shaft pulley on 2001 malibu
Yes, the bolt that holds the harmonic balancer in place on a 2001 Chevy Malibu is reverse thread. I learned that the hard way and stripped the head of my bolt down to nothing. And the bolt is almost impossible to find, because they no longer make them.
ONE IS ON THE BLOCK, FIREWALL SIDE. tHE OTHER IS BENEATH THE HARMONIC BALANCER ON THE FRONT.
Nothing....it's actually a Chevelle Malibu. A lot of times....especially for the older cars, most people just drop the "Malibu" part. Improved: The Malibu is an improved trim option from the Chevelle 300 Series So from 1964 and 1965 Chevrolet Malibu (SS)/ Chevrolet Chevelle 300 (deluxe) 1966 till 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle 300(Deluxe)/Malibu/SS 1969-1972 Chevrolet Chevelle 300/Malibu/SS
I have seen the Chevy classics addvertised as Chevelle by mallibuis this correctIs the 67 Malibu ss classified as the sport coupe Or is the Chevelle the only ss?
the chevelle ss 396 was the correct name and chevelle Malibu was a separate model of the chevelle.
The Malibu was originally a trim package for the Chevelle. It was a step above the base model Chevelle. ALL Super sport Chevelles are Malibu models, but most Malibu models aren't super sports. Chevrolet always referred to the Malibu coupes as "sport coupes" so it was more of a sporty package rather than a luxury package.
The last Model that Chevrolet called a Chevelle was 1977. From 1978 on they were all called Malibu. Malibu was a trim package for the Chevelle from 1964 to 1977, and was the most popular Chevelle model.

depending on the year of the car, Chevrolet had developed cars that had the same body style, but with different names. for example, in 1968 Chevrolet had built the chevelle.and this body style had several different variants, one would be a Malibu, then a chevelle Malibu, a chevelle, and a chevelle super sport. so a chevelle clone would be just taking a car with one body style, and converting it to a different variant that… Read More

According to the IMDB link below, it is a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu.
yes there should be a market for your wagon but not like a 2 dr. malibu.
The last Chevy Chevelle was made in 1977. Starting in 1978 the Chevelle nameplate was dropped and Chevy's midsize car was called the "Malibu" from then on. It's interesting because from the very beginning in 1964, the "Malibu" was actually a Chevelle model/trim package. Before 1978, ALL Malibu's were Chevelles, but not all Chevelles were Malibu's.
all depends on the engine you have.
they stoped making the chevelle in 1978 because the Malibu took the chevelle name and GM is making chevelle's again in 2010 in janurary or in feburary. YAY
No, he owned a blue 1970 Chevelle Malibu.
If it was ordered with power steering it would have it.
1976 Chevy Chevelle/Malibu
The first Chevelle SS was built in 1964 as an option on the Malibu trim package. The first big block Chevelle SS was the 1965 Z16 Malibu SS396. It is a VERY rare car, only 201 were ever produced. ALL 201 of them were equipped with 4 speed manual transmissions.

All depends on the shape it's in and what drive train it has.
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu

yes it should bolt right up.
Depends on what year it is and which engine it has. If it has a pushrod engine in it, it has a timing chain instead of a belt. If it is an overhead cam engine, then it does. Keep in mind that the Malibu was originally a Chevelle model starting in 1964. The Malibu replaced the Chevelle in 1978, so there are a lot of possibilities here.
Depends.... If it had a straight 6 or a 2 barrel 283, no. If it had a 327, most likely, especially if it has the L-79 (350 HP 327) in it. The first truly fast Chevelle was the 1965 Z16.... It was the first time the 396 was installed in the Chevelle.
brand new rechromed are going for $175 to $250 each.
What could cause a 1971 Chevelle Malibu to start but doesn't shut off when you replaced the ignition switch but nothing changed Besides the whole ignition system what else could it be?
Something is keeping power to the ignition coil. You need a wiring schematic and trace the wiring.
You will need to remove the fan shroud and the fan. Drain and remove the radiator. Using a puller you will have to remove the harmonic balancer. Next you will have to remove the water pump. Remove the bolts holding the timing cover and pry it away from the engine. In some cases you will have to remove 2 bolts on either side of the oil pan.

Actually, yes. ALL super sport Chevelles were Malibu's. From 1966-1969 the SS396 was actually it's own model and had it's own VIN code, but they were still built on the Malibu trim package platform. In '64-'65 and '70-'72 the super sport Chevelles shared the same VIN code as the Malibu, for example, a 1970 Malibu coupe has a VIN code of 13637. A 1970 Chevelle SS coupe has the same VIN code, 13637. The same… Read More
