Perhaps the new timing chain is not set right. You may have to remove the front cover and take a look.
The 1995 Land Rover Discovery has a timing chain.
its got a timing chain not a belt
chain
Timing chain as well as belt cannot be adjust. If the chain has got stretched you have to replace it.
Yes not cambelt chain driven
You'd have a hard time breaking a small block Chevy timing chain. As the chain gets loose it will run worse and worse. But to anser your question. No, the chain coming off won't make the valves hit the pistons, but it would make one awful racket as the chain got wound up on the crank gear and smashed through the timing chain cover and from face of the oil pan. ;)
It has a chain and it's a pain to work on, just had to replace mine.
I wouldn't recommend it. The timing chain synchronizes all of the valves and pistons so that the valves for the right cylinder open at the proper time. If the timing chain breaks while the engine is running, you've got a really good chance of destroying your engine, and I do mean "destroying" your engine.
IF your previous timing chain broke, you most likely got your "cam to crank" timing out of whack. If it didn't break and it wouldn't start before you changed it, your first basic steps would be to make sure your engine is getting fuel, spark, and air.
If its a 6cl,it's got a timing chain, I never heard of one braken. If it,s a 4cl, it's got a belt. Don't try to start it. Take it to a repair shop.
2.4 Lt pintara has not got timing belt, it is a chain. They only 2.0Lt has got timing belt
