Heat rash in pregnant women is very common, at any time in the pregnancy. Rashes can also be caused by a rapidly expanding belly.
The most common rash/skin condition is pruritic uticarial pupules and placques of pregnancy (PUPPP) also called polymorphic eruption of pregnancy. Usually found in women in their third trimester. It is not associated with any other conditions of pregnancy. Again, harmless but annoying. 70% of the women who develop this rash are pregnant with a boy! The cause and effect are not known.
As always, any concerns you have during pregnancy should be brought up with your OB doc.
Your doctor may be able to recommend a topical cream if the itch is severe.
