Sounds like you have a wheel sensor out and the ABS is not working so the traction control system shuts off as it can not control that wheel.
The SES is used for many, many things. You need to determine what is causing the light before anyone can answer.
Take it to Auto Zone they do a free check on this problem and they tell you what is causing your light to come on.
If there is an OD off light on the dash, overdrive is turned off.
Clear the codes. drive the car a bit and check the codes again.
Fix the problem and the light will reset itself after a certain number of drive cycles.
probably u-joints on driveshaft
usually i have 3 gallons of gas left.. maybe about 50 miles
If the CEL is not flashing-it's probably ok to drive. If the CEL is flahing - it's probably not ok.
If you are referring to the letter "D" (for Drive) - it is a warning indicator of a problem with the transmission. Get it to a shop that can read the trouble codes from the OBD computer to see what the problem is.
I can only think of 2 obvious reasons for this, 1) a push button light has been triggered manually or 2) the light intensity slider on the dash is in the full on position. Hope this helps.
To reset a Service Engine Soon light, a person can disconnect and reconnect the battery. They can also fix the problem and use a scanner to clear the codes causing the light to come on.
i had the same problem i just cut one of the wires leading to the switch that was causing the problem
