Not sure what you mean by "PV". If it is part of the serial number and it could be, that would make it an Auto5 made in Japan. If this gun was made in Belgium, then you are looking at one of the standard proofing marks on the barrel. On Belgiam Brownings, There is a "PV" on the barrel, stamped under a line with a standing Lion above it. Is this what you mean? It simply means that the barrel has been proofed for "Smokeless Powder". Smokeless Powder in the French Language is Poudre Vive which "PV" stands for abreviated. Your gun, serial number 249609, is Post War and was made in 1947. Value is too difficult to be accurate without seeing the gun. Condition which includes the amount of original finish and original configuration will determine value. Condition and age is also a factor. Your 1947 gun has the front trigger safety and is not as desireable as a shooter, so unless the condition is in the upper 90's in finish percentage, value will drop to some degree. Auto 5's with recoil pads (other than Mag 12's) poly-chokes and compensators will reduce value. Recommend taking it to a gun shop for appraisal. You can also do your own investigation by looking at other models being sold that are in the same condition as yours. Try the gunbroker.com or a periodical called "The Gun List" You can also reference the Blue Book of Gun Values which can be purchased on line at various retailers.
