The engine light will only be on because there is a problem, take it to your nearest Audi Speacialist Cars where they can plug it into a machine and check what the problem is. it could be a case of just a failed sensor somewhere in the engine but more than likely will be a problem, not something you want to ignore!
The check engine or service engine soon light comes on to alert you that there is or was a problem with the emissions system on your vehicle. If the light comes on steady and stays on, it means that there is a problem and you should have it checked out soon. If it comes on and flashes, it means you will cause damage if you continue driving.
If the underlying cause of the light is taken care of the OBD check engine light will go off after 6 warm up/driving cyclec or one within 50 miles of highway driving at a steady speed. If its still on you still have the problem/malfunction.
Sounds to me to be the check engine light. The fact that it is flashing may indicate a serious problem. Have it looked at a.s.a.p. If the light was steady,it may not be to serious.
If the engine oil level is at the full mark, the light is not suppose to come on when driving.
The Check Engine light comes on when the ECU detects a problem with the emissions system. Seek professional help.
Numerous things could cause this problem. Most of them are nothing to worry about. As long as you are talking about the AMBER "check engine light"... Since it blinks, I would check with a Dealer first. The blinking indicates a possible future problem. Once it is steady, the car has identified a problem. One thing to check... Make sure the gas cap is tight!!! No idea how the car runs or idles, so difficult to figure...bring it in.
Most of the time, yes, unless it is flashing. A check engine light can come on for something as minor as an oxygen sensor going bad. Most manufacturers use the "Steady" for minor things and "Flashing" for serious things.
Disconnect the battery cable for about 10 minutes and the light will be reset. If it comes on again after driving, it's a recurring problem and you can get the codes read and hopefully fix the problem. You can drive the car but should have the vehicle checked soon as possible. BUT if the service engine soon light is flashing, stop the vehicle when it is safe to do so then shut off the engine immediately. If you continue to drive the vehicle with the service engine soon light flashing you will do catastrophic damage to the catalytic converter(s).
You can disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and reset the computer. If there are problems still present, the engine light will come back on after a while. Try this first, then if the check engine light persists, there is a problem detected. And that will need the codes scanned. STOP! If the engine light is blinking it means there is damage being done. A steady light means there is a code you need checked. A flashing engine light is really bad. Pull over and get towed to your mechanic.
A flashing check engine light means an engine cylinder misfire has been detected
It depends on the indicator. Check engine means the engine computer has detected a malfunction. The oil can is an oil pressure problem, a battery is a charging problem, etc
