You may have blown a fuse. Check your fuses. Then you can check your light connections.

Check bulbs
Check for a blown brake light fuse ( in the fuse panel ) or the brake light switch at the brake pedal could be the problem. The brake light switch releases the shifter lock as well as operating the brake lights.

Check your fuse, bulbs and the probable culprit the brake switch attached to the brake pedal. Mine were completely out on a 91 Town car and it was a bad switch. I hope this helps you.

tail -light and no brake light means the brake switch mounted along the streering column needs to be adjusted or replaced...the signals work off a flasher can mounted inder the dash...there is 2 cans ...trurn/emer flashers
Try spraying contact cleaner around the emergency light switch. Pres the switch many times to help clean the contacts. That often gets my brake lights working. Hello: I own a 2001 Lincoln town car had the same problem its a quick and easy fix, all you have to do is replace the Turn Signal switch on your steering wheel.
The lights wiring is grounded and you might want to check to see if the ground is connected properly to the frame.
There is a shifter interlock switch on the brake pedal which also controls the brake lights
