pluged cooling fins in and on the radiador
generally, water pumps leak when defective but still pump water. could be thermostat, plugged radiator, loose belt, low coolant answer if pump is not leaking, get engine to running temp and remove radiator cap look in to see if water is circulating if water is circulating it is not the pump i would change thrmostat then check radiator cap
Cooling system airbound? Temperature control not working? Low coolant? Water pump not circulating coolant?
Has the rad ever been flushed? Try that if there is no indication of water pump failure (leaking or venting coolant from pump.)
Blown head gastet, radiator leaking, thermostat needs to be replaced Blown head gastet, radiator leaking, thermostat needs to be replaced
Flush out the radiator, it could be pluged to the point its not cooling and will blow another hose or worse , head gasket. A good flush would be my choice. Good luck rick
only if the gasket under thermostat is leaking and may-be it's the hose clamp on the hose that is leaking
yes, leaking coolant is what happens before the pump totally dies, then you have overheating and possible engine damage soon after the leaking.
There are all sorts of places that coolant can be leaking from. You just have to look until you locate it.
Your thermostat is sticking in the closed position,it is usually located where the top radiator hose connects to the engine. Very inexpensive item
Overheating and leaking coolant is a sign of a bad water pump. There is a hole on the bottom of water pumps that allows coolant to leak when they are going out. This is to warn you it is going out so you replace it before major damage is done.
The overflow tank is either cracked or its overheating and leaking from the cap
Overheating in a 1998 BMW 528i can be caused by several factors, including a malfunctioning thermostat that fails to regulate coolant flow, a leaking or damaged radiator, or a faulty water pump that prevents proper circulation of coolant. Additionally, low coolant levels due to leaks in hoses or the cooling system can also lead to overheating. Blocked coolant passages or a malfunctioning fan can further exacerbate the issue. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent these problems.
