The engine needs fuel, spark and compression. You are missing one of those.
does that year have carb or tb?
you can check the catalytic converter it may be plugged and cause it to backfire through the carb
The computer doesn't control the fuel on a carb. engine, the carb. does. It also controls the air flow. So putting a new carb. on will not affect the computer. The new carb. will do everything by itself, but you will still be limited to the amount of fuel your pump can spit out and the amount of air your air intake can suck in. Then the exhaust comes into play because you can only get enough power as your exhaust system allows. To answer the question though, yes you can upgrade your carb.
You may have a fuel problem, check the fuel filter and fuel pump.
dirty carb bowl or water in the carb
For any gasoline engine to start it has to have fuel. Check to see if your getting gas in the carb. You may just need a fuel pump.
Yes. While the computer does monitor the oil pressure, since you eliminated the TBI in favore of the carb, the computer couldn't use the signals from the sensors to adjust the engine. Esentialy, the computer has no control over the functions of the carb hence the oil giage doesn't need the computer to function. It is attached to the engine through mechanical means(hose) or through direct connection from the gage to the sensor(rheostaticaly)
Yes. There are adapters available for this, however switching to the correct intake manifold is a better solution.
Check fuel filter and carburetor or fuel injectors if so equipped. Some older cars with Carburetors have a fuel filter where the fuel line enters the Carb. Provide year and engine specifics for a better answer.
it shouldnt, the fuel mix is prolly 32:1 and if it dont start check the spark and after that check ur air filter finally if it still dont start then its ur carb and i dont understand what u mean about the cutch
Sounds like the float in the carb is stuck closed or the main jet in the carb is plugged.Take the spark plug out and pour a small amount if gas in the engine put the plug back in and see if the engine starts for a shot period of time,if so then its in the carb somewhere
Try spraying carb cleaner directly into carb to see if it fuel related.
